Mid-Atlantic Fishing Report! - 5-7-13 (DE, NJ, MD, PA)
Chesapeake Bay:
Trophy striper fishing in the Chesapeake is still up and down. Some are reporting decent fishing, some are reporting great fishing and others are catching the skunk.
The MSSA tournament was this weekend and the bay was packed. Lots of boat pressure usually hurts the striper fishing and if you can find some fish and bait away from the fleets you have a much better chance of putting fish in the box.
Some anglers have already switched to chumming and are reporting moderate success on big stripers.
Delaware Bay:
Stripers were still the main target of bay anglers this past week. The upper bay saw steady action on some nice fish. While some anglers struggled, others did very well. Its all about putting in your time, finding the right area and having extremely fresh bunker.
Good Flounder reports are also coming in from the Broadkill Beach area, Lewes Canal, and the Cape Henlopen Pier.
More and more black drum have been caught in the bay. The coral beds off Slaughter Beach should start producing some nice drum. Fresh surf clams are the best baits for the big drum.
Inshore Ocean:
With the Delaware tog season closing next Saturday (May 11th) I expect many anglers will try to get out a couple more times this week. The bite has been very good. Lets hope the wind dies down and cooperates.
Striper fishing is still very good in Northern NJ. Trolling, chunking, eeling and live lining are all producing nice linesiders.
South Jersey, Delaware and MD coastal anglers are reporting better striper fishing this week. The Indian River Inlet in DE has seen increasing action on both the size and quantity of fish. OCMD Inlet has also been producing some nice stripers.
Offshore Ocean:
Well the recent satellite shots are showing great looking water and temp breaks from the Baltimore down to the Poormans canyons. This strong east wind has prevented anyone from reaching it yet, but later this week if the wind lays down like its supposed to I expect to hear of some tuna brought back to the dock.

Freshwater:
Crappie fishing in the region has been on fire. Myself and a friend nailed a bunch of nice crappies in a southern DE pond over the weekend. You can see that report here - A Crappie Day
Anglers fishing for bass, and pickeral are also reporting good success.
Delaware River anglers are still connecting with stripers and catfish. Bloodworms and bunker are the best baits for both the stripers and cats.
Tight Lines,
Dave
