Mid-Atlantic Fishing Report! - 6-12-13 (DE, NJ, MD, PA)
Chesapeake Bay:
Striper fishing still remains good up and down the bay. Chumming, trolling, and live lining are all producing good catches of stripers. Fishing has been consistent from the lower bay up to and above the bay bridge.
Bottom fishing took off last week. Lots of white perch, croakers and spot are being caught by those bottom fishing.
Bluefish are also around. Trolling and chumming are the best producers for bluefish.
Delaware Bay:
Flounder fishing remains slow in the DE bay. Hopefully the action picks up as the water temps continue to creep up.
Drum fishing is still good on both sides of the bay. There are a lot of small croakers, kingfish, sea trout, skates and dogfish around so bring plenty of bait when drum fishing.
Croaker fishing is still very good in the lower bay. The rock walls at Lewes and Cape Henlopen Pier are some top producing spots for croakers.
Flounder are still being caught in the Lewes Canal and Roosevelt Inlet as well.
Inshore Ocean:
Thresher sharks are still being caught inshore. Mackeral and Bunker chum combined with fresh bluefish baits is the best combo to entice a thresher to your slick.
Stripers, bluefish and sea trout are all being caught in the local inlets.
Surf fishing is still decent on the DE and NJ beaches. Small croakers, spot, and kingfish have invaded the beaches. Some stripers are still being caught occasionally as well. Reports of some nicer sized bluefish have also come in from the surf.
Offshore Ocean:
Finally boats have scored on yellowfins this past week in our local canyons. Reports of yellowfins have come in from the Washington to the Baltimore which means when the wind finally calms down boats should be able to get out and score on some tunas. Mahi Mahi have also been reported in the canyons as well. It wont be long before the white marlin show up.
Bluefins should be arriving at the inshore lumps any day now.
Shark fishing remained consistent this past week. Makos and threshers were caught from 20 fathoms out to the canyons. You can expect to play catch and release with a lot of blue sharks, browns and tigers as well. We even got a couple reports of great white sightings from shark fisherman this past week.
Check out the recent fishing reports and open boat availability from Muff Diver Charters and Restless Lady Sport Fishing. Captains Joe and Ryan from Muff Diver Charters have a couple of open boat tuna trips coming up, if you are looking to get offshore don't miss this opportunity! Captain Sean from Restless Lady Sport Fishing scored on some yellowfins from the Washington Canyon this past week.
If you are looking to stock up on offshore gear check out our advertisers - Homeland Tackle Company, Tournament Cable and Restless Lady Tackle Box. They have a wide variety of spreader bars, daisy chains, ballyhoo rigs etc. Check them out!
Freshwater:
Bass, crappies, bluegills and pickeral are all being caught by pond anglers. As the ponds continue to get "weeded up" the top water action should get better and better. This makes for some fun fishing!
Tight Lines,
Dave
