Deer Hunting from a Ground Blind

Two weekends ago my friends and myself did a little more work to our properties. Hung two more stands, cleared some more brush, check cameras and built a ground blind for deer hunting.

Deer hunting on the ground can be very effective. A good ground blind will more often then not offer more cover than most deer stands and are usually a little more comfortable than sitting in a deer stand for hours.

Some of the disadvantages of hunting from a ground blind are your scent is even more of a factor then when you are in the air. You really need to make sure your clothes are washed with scent free detergent, you use a good scent killer spray and you play the wind when choosing the location of your ground blind. Another disadvantage of using ground blinds is deer can pick up your movement easier because you are at their eye level now. Sure everyone has been busted by deer for moving too much in your tree stand, but it is even easier for them to bust you when you are on the ground with them.

Despite the disadvantages, hunting deer from a ground blind can be a very rewarding and fulfilling, up close experience.
