Below is the list of the 4 options for this years flounder season in DE. On first glance these 4 options look very desirable. Option 1 is the same as last year only with a closed season, while the other 3 options have a smaller minimum size and no closed season. If one of these options is chosen the only drawback is a potential harvest increase, which if achieved will most likely result in stricter size, possession and season limits the next year.
My pick would be option number 3 as this would drop the minimum size from 18" to 17" and keep the 4 fish possession limit while having no closed season. This would also prevent too much of a harvest increase which should make next years changes less harsh.
There will be a public hearing at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 21st in the DNREC Auditorium located at 89 Kings Highway in Dover, DE.
