Muff Diver Charters - Reports Recap 5/30/14 - 6/10/14

Muff Diver reports recap for May 30 through June 10th

Hi to All.  Good news is that the fish are here and the fishing has been good.
5/30 - Lots of BFT bites at the Baltimore.  Caught all we wanted but could only keep 2.  We did not get our over 47” one, not to many people did, but we had a grand time.

5/31 – Had a shark trip that we talked into going tuna fishing based on the day before.  The bite did happen but later in the day and we were sharking at the time.  Tuna fished until 10am (as was the plan) caught our 2 plus 3 more but it was nothing like it was the day before until about 11:30am – then it got really good I’m told.  We were sharking and caught 5 out of 6 Blue shark bites – everyone was happy with the day.

6/6 – At the Poorman Canyon today, caught 7 YFT out of 12 bites.  20 to 50 pounds.  Day was beautiful and lots of fun.

6/7 – Carbon copy of yesterday.   At the Poorman Canyon, caught 7 YFT out of 12 bites.  20 to 50 pounds.  Day was beautiful and lots of fun.

6/8 – Sharking today and it was very slow.  The wind one way and the current the other way – what there was of either.  The chum was going one way and the baits the other.  4 Hammerheads swam up the chum slick and did not find the baits and swam off.   We did catch one Brown shark and it gave the crew a battle before we let it go.  One really big highlight of the day was that we had a Bryde’s Whale (about 30 to 35’) swim around the boat for nearly ½ hour.  It was really something to see.  We all took still pictures as well as video.  Will try to post it later.

6/9 – Poorman’s Canyon today.  Killed 9 YFT and 2 Dolphin.  Had lots of bites and many releases – smaller fish – nice day & great crew.

6/10 – Ten miles south of the Poorman’s today in 80 to 130 fathoms.  Took 7 YFT out of twice that many bites – again some smaller fish we had to throw back – and 3 Dolphins.  The day was a bit rough in the AM but cleared up in the afternoon.

6/11 – Did boat maintenance – has to happen once in a while.
