Fall and winter time striper trolling will be getting under way soon on the Chesapeake Bay. This time of year most anglers switch from the lighter weight, tandems and umbrellas to heavier of the same lures to get down deeper in the water column. In the Spring the warmer water is in the upper end of the water column which is why lighter rigs and planer boards are popular this time of year. In the fall and winter the warmer water is actually deeper as the cooler air temperatures cool down the water higher in the water column.
