Muff Diver’s “Make Up” Party Roster for 2015 - 3/2/2015
March is here and I’m starting to work on a new idea. “Make Up” list for groups that need additional anglers. I have a full mailing list but rather than bother everyone with emails about trips that need a person or two, I am trying to develop a list of anglers that would be interested in a call or email if a party is in need of additional anglers.
It normally goes like this for those of you that aren't familiar with the idea. Sometimes we have a group of anglers that are short several anglers but they want to book a specific day. When that happens we will put out an email with the specific date of the trip, the type of trip and the number of additional anglers that are needed. The cost (both boat & tip included) is split by the number of anglers that are on the trip – usually 6.
Examples are:
12 hour Offshore is $420 per person and we normally have 7 hours of fishing.
24 hour Overnight is $610 per person and we usually get 17 hours of fishing.
We are encouraging this type of trip – more bang for the buck and it allows us to target a larger selection of fish - including the Big Eye Tuna!

The fishing order is done by the drawing of cards – ace to 6 with ace being 1. So the fishing order would be 1 first, 2 second and so on. Once an angler has caught a fish, he is out of the rotation until everyone else has landed a fish then we go back to 1. If an angler fights a fish and loses it – his turn is over – the next man is up. Believe it or not, we have had people that lose every fish we hand them to reel in. It is just not fair to those that follow him – that’s why we do it this way. Keeps it fair, at least that’s what I think.
If we get into a school of dolphin we have enough jobs and rods to keep everyone busy catching fish. Five fishing, 1 person with the bait ready to bait the hook and take the rod, then the person who just gave up the rod gets the bait ready to bait the next hook and take the rod and so it goes until we finish with the dolphin.
At any rate, those of you on our current mailing list that would like to receive notices about “Make Up” trips for the 2015 season please email me back at fishing@godeepsportfishing.com and let me know so I will be sure to put you on the list. Also, remember to include your cell phone number.
