Sorry it has been a while between posts, been busy at work and at home. Look for fishing reports to be filtering in every day!
The following fishing report is from Captain Adam Crouthamel of Adam Bomb Sport Fishing. Adam fishes the inshore waters around Cape May, NJ year round. He targets stripers, flounder, tog, sea bass, drum, cod and all other inshore species found around Cape May. I have personally fished with Adam multiple times and each trip was outstanding. Check out his website here for all his latest fishing reports, boat availability and Adam Bomb gear. You can also see Adam Bomb reports and open boat availability at The Bass Barn
April 19,
2012
I had the
pleasure of fishing with Steve, Lew, Skip, Ed, Chubby, and Danny. We went for
tog, and decided to check out some different spots.
Our first spot was
deeper, but I wanted to check it out to see if there were some big fish. There
were big fish - sea bass! When May 19 rolls around, it's going to be epic!
Doggies were also a problem on this piece. We pulled the hooks and headed
shallower. We fished three drops around this area that receive very little
pressure. We picked a few nice fish, but overall it was very slow. The only
thing I could think that had them off the feed here was a combination of a
ground swell and a low barometer.
After a few slow picks, we made a move
to drop #4. Drop and lock togging! When the bait hit bottom, you had to be ready
because they were chewing hard before you had the reel in gear. Lots of shorts
in the 13" to 14.75" range here, but a few nice keepers mixed in and the action
was great.
On the way home, we made one more stop and found another
great bite with a few more nice ones hitting the box.
We caught more tog
than you could count, and put 19 keepers in the box with most of them 16" to 19"
fish. It was a good day in anyone's book with a great crew that made it a
blast!
